We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Licensed Utility Operator (WW2 and WS1), reporting to the Village Administrator. This person will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintenance work and will operate equipment in the construction, operation, repair, and maintenance of our village utility plants and system as Operator of Responsible Charge.

Additionally, the Village offers weekly pay, all full-time employees will be eligible for Life and AD&D insurance, up to 80 hours of vacation and 120 hours of sick time that rolls over year after year. 8 paid holidays and 3 floating holidays to use as employees see fit. THE PERSON

Our desired, well-rounded candidate will need to have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Required Training and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
  • OEPA class 1 water operator license.
  • OEPA class 2 wastewater operator license.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic maps and blueprints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public.

The Position will entail:

  • Overseeing a class 2 wastewater plant and class 1 water plant as ORC.
  • Contacting residents and business owners in area where service interruptions will impact them and represents the Village in a positive manner in these situations.
  • Ensuring the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
  • Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and reporting defects or needed repairs to Village Administrator.
  • Performing all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Preparing and submitting reports and corresponding with regulatory agencies.
  • Reading and installing radio-read water meters.
  • Assisting in inspections of laterals and service connections.

Additional Details:

This position will require regularly working outside in a variety of weather. Work conditions will include working near moving mechanical parts, frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations, and occasional work in high, precarious places. Additionally, there is occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Regular work schedule will be 7am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday and 2-hour plant checks every other weekend. If you’re interested in joining our team, we’d love to talk to you.
